The Fishermen's Vernacular school at Shaukiwan is ready to open and application has been made to Squcation Dept. It is planned to organise similar schools at other fishing centres.

6. TELJOMS & ELECTRICAL.

a. Staff.

Considerable difficulties have had to be faced as many of the previous clerical staff have not reported for duty.

16 of the 17 European staff have been repatriated and skeleton technical services are being carried on with non uropeans.

b. Commercial Services.

Considerable assistance has been given to

Cable & wireless in re-establishing the Commercial radio-telegraph services which are being run with temporary equipment and in temporary premises. It is hoped that new plant for Cable &
